Terms of Service — Lukumi Odu Guide
1. The service
Lukumi Odu Guide is a subscription platform of the Church of the Lukumi Babalu Aye ("the Church") that assists ordained practitioners ("priests") in recording diloggún consultations and provides access to the Church's Ifá reference corpus. The software is decision-support; the priest is the author of every reading.
2. Accounts and roles
Priest accounts are paid subscriptions. Client accounts are free, created only through a priest's invitation, and give access solely to that person's own consultation records. You are responsible for your credentials; sign-in requires an emailed verification code.
3. Subscriptions and billing
Priest subscriptions bill monthly or yearly through Stripe. A lapsed subscription suspends access to the reference corpus and to starting new readings; it never deletes or hides existing reading records, yours or your clients'.
4. Consultation records and consent
A priest who records a consultation about another person is responsible for obtaining that person's consent to the record, exactly as they would for any written pastoral record kept outside this platform. The platform's role is custodian: it stores the record on the priest's and the Church's behalf, and does not itself decide what is recorded or why. Records of a consultation are retained as pastoral records and are not deleted when a subscription ends.
5. Your rights over identifying data
The platform stores the minimum identifying data about consultation subjects: a name and, optionally, a date of birth — encrypted at the application layer, unreadable to database operators. Any person named in a consultation, whether or not they ever created an account, may request severance of their identity from that record by contacting the Church (contact below). Anonymization removes the name and date of birth and deactivates any linked account; the anonymized consultation record itself — the reading and its outcome — persists as a pastoral record with no name attached to it.
6. The corpus and intellectual property
All divination content — the diloggún texts and the Tratado Enciclopédico de Ifá corpus — is the property of, or licensed to, the Church (texto y concepto: Ernesto Pichardo). Your subscription grants a personal, non-transferable right to read it inside the platform. Copying, extracting, republishing, or assisting others to do so is prohibited. Content is watermarked, visibly and invisibly, per account; the Church investigates leaks and terminates infringing accounts, and reserves all legal remedies.
7. Acceptable use
No automated access, scraping, or bulk retrieval; no sharing of accounts (priest sessions are single-device by design); no attempt to circumvent technical protections. Rate limits and anomaly detection are in force; violations may suspend corpus access pending review.
8. Availability and data durability
The service is provided with reasonable care, with continuous backup of reading records. It is not a substitute for the priest's own judgment, and the Church is not liable for decisions taken in reliance on a reading.
9. Termination
You may cancel anytime (subscription ends at the period's close). The Church may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of §6–§7. Termination never deletes a client's access to their own consultation records.
10. Changes and contact
We will notify account holders of material changes. Contact, including data requests: [email protected].
